James Construction Company has completed a wide range of construction projects over its history, however, today most of its work is centered around site development for commercial and industrial facilities. Well over 50% of the projects involve the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Typical owners include Hoffmann LaRoche, Merck & Co., Pfizer, Wyeth Ayerst Laboratories, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Berlex, and Schering Plough. James Construction's extra attention to safety, and working within an existing facility with minimal disruption to the owner, have earned the company a strong reputation in this field.
James has also completed a number of projects outside of the pharmaceutical field over the past five years. Projects have been done for institutional clients such as Ramapo College of NJ, College of St. Elizabeth, and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians. Also the firm has completed several projects for the New Jersey Economic Development Authority - Technology Centers 1 and 2, One Bergen County Plaza, and currently the International Center for Public Health. Other owners include Datascope, DialAmerica Marketing, Continental Airlines, International Air Cargo Center, Lucent Technologies, Ford Motor Company, Volvo Cars, and the New York Daily News.
Projects are sometimes contracted directly with the owner, however most of the time the company is working through a construction manager. Over 90% of the work completed by James is repeat business. The firm has done numerous projects over the years for Torcon, Inc, Sordoni Skanska Construction Co., Gilbane Building Co., Bovis Construction Co., A.P. Schmidt Construction Co., Damon G. Douglas Co., York Hunter Construction Co., HRH Construction Co., and Turner Construction Co.
